The Department of Costume Design and Fashion at Kongu Arts and Science College, Erode, is organizing a six-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Future of Textile Design: Tools, Techniques and Smart Technologies “from August 17 to August 22, 2026 with financial support from the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy, under the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
The programme is designed to enhance the competencies of higher education faculty members by focusing on the future of textile design, advanced tools, techniques, strategies, and the application of modern intelligent technologies in the textile and fashion sector.
The Faculty Development Programme has been sanctioned with a grant of ₹3.5 lakh by AICTE. Faculty members from higher education institutions across Tamil Nadu and several other states are expected to participate and benefit from this initiative.
The programme will feature distinguished experts, academicians, and professionals from leading international companies and universities as resource persons, offering participants valuable insights into emerging trends and innovations in textile and fashion education.
The official AICTE sanction order for the programme was presented by P. Sachithanandan, Correspondent and Dr. H. Vasudevan, Principal Kongu Arts and Science College.
The programme is coordinated by Dr. S. Manjula, Head, Department of Costume Design and Fashion and Co-Coordinator R.Rajakumar, along with the faculty members of the department.
Speaking on the occasion, the Correspondent stated that AICTE has extended funding for this Faculty Development Programme only to a selected number of higher educational institutions in Tamil Nadu. He expressed his happiness and pride that Kongu Arts and Science College has been chosen to receive this prestigious grant.
