Edtech platform Vedantu has appointed Shimon Joseph as its Academic Director for Tamil Nadu, strengthening its regional academic leadership and reinforcing its focus on improving student outcomes across the state.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and a KVPY Scholar, Shimon Joseph completed the institute's B.Tech–M.Tech Dual Degree programme between 2013 and 2018. He secured Tamil Nadu State Rank 5 in JEE Main and graduated as the Department Topper, earning the Institute Silver Medal. With eight years of teaching experience, he has emerged as one of the country's well-recognised educators.
“Shimon Sir’s role will strengthen the connection between student outreach and academic delivery. While continuing to lead our distribution initiatives and YouTube channels, he will work closely with academic teams to refine curriculum, strengthen teaching methodologies and improve student outcomes across India.”, adds Vamsi Krishna, Co-founder and CEO of Vedantu.
Since launching Vedantu's Tamil Nadu YouTube channel in 2022, Joseph has played a key role in making it a leading learning platform in the region. Under his leadership, the channel achieved the No. 1 position in the Class 10 CBSE segment in Tamil Nadu, commanding over 80 per cent market share.
He has also contributed significantly to Vedantu's online batches, offline learning centres and publishing initiatives. His book, Challenge 100, sold more than 50,000 copies within a year of its release.
The announcement comes amid Vedantu's strong academic performance in NEET UG and JEE 2026. More than 1,000 Vedantu students qualified in NEET UG nationwide, including 323 students who secured Government Medical College seats. Tamil Nadu alone accounted for over 380 successful NEET qualifiers. In JEE, over 510 students from the state qualified for JEE Advanced 2026, while 27 Vedantu students secured ranks among the top 1,000 All India Ranks.
Vedantu also reported impressive CBSE Board examination results, with more than 690 Class 10 and over 110 Class 12 students scoring above 90 per cent. The company currently operates 19 centres across nine cities in Tamil Nadu and has over 1.5 million subscribers across its regional YouTube learning channels.
