The Research and Development Cell of Fatima College (Autonomous), Madurai organised an Interactive Session on Scopus Publications and Patent Rights Application on 17 August 2026 at A2 Hall, with Dr. J. Karthikeyan, Assistant Professor and Training & Placement Officer, National College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, as the Resource Person. The session was attended by 40 faculty members comprising 22 Staff from Shift II and 18 Staff from Shift I.
The session focused on strengthening faculty members’ understanding of quality research publications, Scopus-indexed journals and patent applications. Dr. Karthikeyan provided practical guidance on selecting suitable journals based on Scopus quartiles, CiteScore, journal scope and coverage, and highlighted the importance of avoiding predatory journals.
The session also covered Elsevier Journal Finder, open-access and subscription-based journals, citation practices, plagiarism and similarity checking, and reference-management tools such as Mendeley. Emphasis was placed on choosing credible and relevant journals to enhance the visibility and impact of scholarly research.
The interactive session enabled faculty members to gain practical insights into responsible publication practices and research evaluation metrics, thereby encouraging quality-oriented research and strengthening the institution’s research culture. The session enhanced faculty members’ awareness of effective journal selection and responsible publication practices. Participants gained practical insights into evaluating journals, understanding research metrics, and improving the visibility and credibility of their research. The session thereby contributed to strengthening the institution’s research and publication culture.
