Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) yesterday announced plans to develop a new integrated air cargo hub at GMR Cargo City, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, with a proposed long-term investment of approximately US$150 million.
Spread across nearly 230,000 square feet, the fully automated facility will integrate international gateway and pickup-and-delivery operations, enabling faster and more efficient shipment movement. Once operational, the hub is expected to increase processing capacity from 600 to 5,000 packages per hour, with scope for further expansion.
The groundbreaking ceremony was graced by Shri Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Hon’ble Minister of Civil Aviation, Government of India.
The facility will feature an advanced auto-sorter, next-generation X-ray machines, enhanced security systems and intelligent package-handling technologies.
Kami Viswanathan, President, FedEx MEISA, said the investment reflects FedEx’s long-term confidence in India and will strengthen connectivity across North and East India.
