The monsoon brings more than just relief from the heat. Increased humidity, damp indoor spaces and reduced ventilation can create favourable conditions for mould, dust mites and airborne allergens. According to Logan Thomson, Senior Technical Engineer at Dyson, indoor air quality should be considered a year-round concern, especially during the rainy season when homes may remain closed for longer periods.
Dr. Priyanka Kulshrehsta, Indoor Air Quality Expert, explains that while people often focus on outdoor pollution and AQI levels, seasonal changes can also significantly influence the air inside homes. She highlights that higher humidity and reduced ventilation during the monsoon can affect indoor air quality and make it important to maintain cleaner, healthier indoor environments.
To manage indoor allergens, Dyson recommends regular cleaning and vacuuming of carpets, curtains, mattresses and upholstery, along with keeping damp areas dry. Using an air purifier can also help capture airborne particles such as dust, pollen and mould spores. Dyson’s HushJet™ Compact Purifier, V12s Detect Slim Submarine™ and Hair Screw Tool are designed to support cleaner indoor spaces during the monsoon season.
