A 15-day training programme is being conducted to enhance the skills and capabilities of Anganwadi workers.

As per the directions of Social Welfare and Women’s Rights Minister K. Jagadeeswari, a 15-day “POSHAK – Anganwadi Karyakartas” training programme is being conducted in Virudhunagar district to improve the knowledge and functional skills of Anganwadi workers.

The training is being conducted for Anganwadi workers at Sri Darshana Yoga and Nature Centre in Rajapalayam. The main objective is to strengthen the field-level skills of the workers so that they can provide better services related to early childhood development, nutrition, healthcare and family welfare.

The training, based on “POSHAN Shiksha and Kaushal”, covers various aspects including the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, nutrition and growth monitoring, use of the POSHAN Tracker application, supplementary nutrition, community participation and counselling skills.

The skills of Anganwadi workers are also being enhanced to enable them to effectively carry out field-level activities such as early identification of developmental deficiencies among children, creating awareness among parents and connecting families with the necessary government services.

Minister K. Jagadeeswari said that importance would be given to continuous skill development of Anganwadi workers with the objective of strengthening Anganwadi centres as more effective service centres.
