Star Health and Allied Insurance Company one of India’s leading standalone health insurance companies, conducted an Awareness Camp cum Free Mega Medical Camp through its Arogya Seva Kendra (ASK) Nagercoil Centre, extending preventive healthcare services to around 350 community members.Organised in association with Kanyakumari Medical Mission, CSI Medical College Hospital, Neyyoor, the camp was held at Sathya Mahal, 62, Asambu Road, Vadasery, Nagercoil.
It was inaugurated by Mary Princy Latha, Honourable Mayor, Nagercoil Corporation, in the presence of T. R. Ishwarya, I.A.S., Corporation Commissioner, and Dr. K. Vijayakumar, M.D., National President, Indian Medical Association. Representing Star Health were Balaji Babu C, Business Head and Executive Vice President; Dr. Dhinesh Raj K S, CSR Head; Vinoth Paul, Regional Head, Madurai; and Sankar, Assistant Zonal Head, Tirunelveli. The camp brought together preventive screenings and specialist medical consultations under one roof. Community members received free blood pressure and blood sugar checks, ECG screening, eye tests, bone density tests and cancer screening, along with consultations in cardiology, orthopaedics, gynaecology, paediatrics and oncology. Healthcare professionals also counselled participants on regular health checks, early identification of health risks and the importance of timely medical intervention.
The Mega Medical Camp builds on the ongoing work of Star Health’s Arogya Seva Kendra in Nagercoil, located at 114, First Floor, Asambu Road, Vadasery, Nagercoil 629001. Since its launch, the Nagercoil ASK Centre has recorded over 2,900 beneficiary visits, conducted 2,100+ laboratory tests, provided over 2,640 pharmacy services and administered nearly 180 pneumococcal vaccinations, strengthening access to preventive and primary healthcare services in the community.
Star Health Insurance Business Head and Executive Vice President Balaji Babu C said: “Preventive healthcare has greater impact when people can access essential services close to where they live and identify health risks early. Across our five ASK Centres in Tamil Nadu, more than 15,000 beneficiaries have accessed healthcare services, with around 22,000 tests conducted to date. The Centres have also supported around 11,000 NCD screenings for blood pressure and blood sugar and over 750 vaccinations, reflecting the growing role of community-based preventive care. The Nagercoil Mega Medical Camp builds on this approach by bringing preventive screenings and specialist consultations closer to the local community. Our focus is to strengthen regular health monitoring, encourage timely intervention and deepen preventive healthcare access across Tamil Nadu through sustained community engagement.”
