A media delegation from Tamil Nadu on a press tour to review developmental initiatives in Uttar Pradesh called on the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Anandiben Patel, at Raj Bhavan in Lucknow. Notably, this marked the Governor's first official interaction with the press. The delegation was led by J. Vijayalakshmi, Deputy Director, Press Information Bureau (PIB), Chennai and accompanied by Shri Dileep Kumar Shukla, Director, PIB Lucknow.
During the interactive session, Governor Anandiben Patel outlined key governance and social welfare priorities undertaken in the state. Emphasizing reforms in higher education, she highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance university standards and noted that state universities are adopting villages under a comprehensive ‘KG to PG’ framework to raise awareness about higher education among rural youth.
Highlighting health and child welfare initiatives, the Governor briefed the delegation on the administration of HPV vaccination drives for girls aged 9 to 14, nutritional support programs for tuberculosis patients, and the modernization of Anganwadi centers across the state.
The Governor further shared that regular on-ground inspections are conducted across districts to review government schemes and support the progress of Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), with special attention devoted to the welfare of women and children in correctional facilities.
Reiterating the administration's commitment to child protection, Smt. Anandiben Patel underlined the critical importance given to the security, education, and rehabilitation of victimized minor girls in POCSO cases.
