In the wake of the Right To Information (RTI) Act, the environment ministry’s official website, Pro-Active and Responsive Facilitation by Interactive and Virtuous Environment Single-window Hub, (Parivesh) providing detailed information about the environmental project, withdrew its specifics on the environment, forest, wildlife and coastal regulation zone clearances. The withdrawal came into effect in September last year.

According to reports the rationale behind this decision was to protect the interests of project developers and the sensitivity and confidentiality surrounding some of the information. Activists and environmentalists however claim the rationale to opaque the system.

The environment ministry had not made any official announcement regarding the changes, but as per reports, the ministry states the clearance of information stands aligned with the Right To Information Act.

Meanwhile, earlier the website was updating all its agenda and minutes of the ministry meetings, details and other fact sheets of the project including expected impacts on wildlife, forest and ecology, all records before 5 September 2022 still reflects on the website.

Parviesh is a single window system for environment, forest, wildlife and coastal regulation zone clearances.
