Activities and achievements of the Indian Maritime University Over a Decade

The Indian Maritime University (IMU) in Chennai has been doing well for more than a decade now. The university, which functions under the Union Ministry of Ports and Shipping, offers various undergraduate and postgraduate courses through campuses in Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and other places.

Mr. K.D. Joshi, Controller of Examinations of the University and Mr M. Saravanan, Financial Officer (In-charge), were briefed the media today (30.05.2023) on the activities and achievements of the University.

They says  that, various campuses of the university offers M.Tech and MBA master's courses in maritime technology, international transport, etc.

BSc and BBA courses in Maritime science and Logistics are also being offered, they said. They said MS/PHD research courses were started in all the campuses since 2017, out of which 59 students are currently pursuing research projects.

They said the number of girl students is also continuously increasing in the university and various efforts are being made to increase it further. They also noted that on the basis of the National Education Policy, efforts are being made to introduce new curriculum. They also highlighted that the University has conducted several international seminars and conferences on maritime activities. They also noted that the University is working closely with Maritime educational institutions from various countries.

During this press conference, Mr KT Joshi and Mr M Saranavan said that the Indian Maritime University is continuously making efforts to further modernize and improve the educational infrastructure.
