International workshop and seminar SWAP-2023 was successfully concluded

Inaugural Function:

The “Three-day international workshop/ summer school & course preparation – SWAP-2023” was organised by Schools of Chemistry and Physics, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai held at CVR Hall, School of Biological Sciences, Madurai Kamaraj University has started on 5-6-2023. 

This programme was focused on the conversion of solar energy in to electrical energy by solar cells, chemical energy via photoelectrochemical cells, fuels cells and artificial photosynthesis. Which was funded by funding agencies, SERB, RUSA-MKU, CSIR, DRDO, TANSCHE, TNSCST, RCN-Norway, Cool-Long Boat and Madurai Kamaraj University. Also sponsored respectively by Aero-Neuro, Sincil, National Scientific Company, Universal Scientific company, Laser spectra analysis, GEEMat, Mat-lab and Ants-innovation.

In this special occasion various scientists, Dr. Santanu das, Dr. Sachin, Dr. Smagul, Prof. Truls Norby, Dr. Nicolas and Dr. Anna respectively from India, Norway, France and Poland have been participated through off-line and on-line modes. In the inaugural function, Dr. J. Annaraj, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Materials Science, School of Chemistry, MKU has welcomed all the guests, special invitees, participants. Prof. V. Ramakrishnan, Former Directed IISER, Trivandrum has given the inaugural address. Prof. S. Murugesan, Chairperson of School of Chemistry has given a brief note on the Schools of Chemistry and Physics. Dr. Smagul has briefed the aim of the programme and finally, Dr. K. Anitha, Assistant Professor from School of Physics has proposed the vote of thanks.

Later, the technical sessions commenced until 7-6-2023 with the involvement of young scientist from various part of the country. Renowned academicians and scientists from various fields and nations led all of the sessions. They discussed their most recent research discoveries with the attendees.   

Valedictory Function:

The SWAP-2023 international workshop and seminar was successfully concluded on June 8th, 2023 with the Valedictory ceremony, which was organized by the Indian organizers. 

Prof. J. Kumar, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University, graced this important event as the chief guest. Dr. S. Rajashabala, Associate Professor and Chairperson of school of physics extends a warm greeting to all guests and attendees. Dr. K. Smagul and Dr. M. Jeyanthinath have given the overall concluding remarks of the grand event. Prof. J. Kumar, Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University, gave an inspiring and motivational departure speech and thanked the attendees for their energetic participation. A few attendees have offered their opinions on the three-day programme. 

Dr. Smagul and Prof. J. Kumar, Honorable Vice-Chancellor have distributed the prizes to the winners in their respective oral and poster presentations among 90 participants. Dr. J. Annaraj, Associate Professor and Head of the Materials Science Department at the School of Chemistry at MKU, thanked all the dignitaries and attendees for their enthusiastic involvement and active engagement in the oral and poster presentations at the conclusion of the event.
