Central Bureau of Communication Field Office Tiruchirapalli under Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry organised Integrated Communication Outreach Programme on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Central govt schemes, International Year of Millets and Mission Life Environment in Sethurapatti village on Monday.

Field Publicity Officer Tiruchirapalli Mr. K Devi Padmanabhan in his key note address said that Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has become people’s movement and public should help maintain cleanliness. He said that Swachh Bharat Abhiyan aims to make nation open defecation free so that diseases will not spread. He spoke about importance of plastic free environment and said cloth bags are being distributed to public. He said that United Nations has declared this year as International year of Millets accepting India’s request. He stressed importance of nutritious foods and importance of taking millets alongwith regular diet of rice. He pointed out that leafy vegetables especially moringa leaves, spinach keerai which are easily available in villages are rich in vitamins and iron. He spoke about central govt schemes which are beneficial to public and said that people can approach officials to get benefit of welfare schemes.
Sethurapatti panchayat president Ms. T Vasantha Thangarathinam presided over the programme. Swachh Bharat ABhiyan Manikandam Block Coordinator Mr. P Sasikumar spoke about Swachh Bharat Abhiyan being successfully implemented. He urged people to segregate degradable and nondegradable waste while giving to sanitation workers.

Cloth bags were distributed to public as part of Mission Life Environment campaign to prevent usage of one time use plastic. Pamphlkets on central government schemes designed by Central Bureau of Communication Chennai were distributed to public. Prizes were given to people who gave correct answers on various government schemes like MGNREGA, Swachh Bharat ABhiyan SBM International year of Millets and Mission Life Environment.
