Awareness on TB eradication, Siddha treatment were highlighted on the fourth day of Integrated Communication Outreach Programme on Central Government Schemes by Central Bureau of Communication Tiruchirapalli field office at Idhaya College for women Kumbakonam on Friday.
FPA Thanjavur Mr. K Ravindran in his welcome address said that the ICOP which started on August 8 will last till Saturday and highlighted the topics of Central government schemes, International year of Millets and Mission Life Environment.
FPO Tiruchirapalli Mr. K Devi Padmanabhan in his key note address spoke about various central government schemes. He urged students to get information on welfare schemes and utilise it for their benefit. He pointed out that India is largest democracy in the world. India is now fifth largest economy in the world and only through education we can achieve status of developed nation. He said that United Nations accepted India’s request and announced this year as International year of Millets. He spoke about importance of Siddha Medical system and how kabasurakudineer increased self immunity. He pointed out that India is aiming to eradicate TB by 2025. He urged students to safeguard environment and asked them to avoid using one time use plastics.
Idhaya College vice Principal Sister Arockya Jaya and teachers attended the function.
Kumbakonam Siddha Dr Jayanthi spoke about importance of Siddha medication. She urged students to have healthy and nutritious breakfast. She spoke about importance of millets as nutritious diets. She spoke about importance of good food as medicine in Siddha form.
Kumbakonam TB eradication coordinator Ms. Neela Devi spoke about various measures taken by government to eradicate TB.
In the morning session students from Idhaya College for women and St Joseph’s Higher Secondary School participated. Prizes were given to students who won in quiz competition on Siddha medication and TB eradication.
In the afternoon session Thanjavur TB eradication Coordinator Mr. Paneerselvam spoke about symptoms of TB, He urged students to create awareness that TB is completely curable through proper treatment. He spoke about measures taken by health department to eradicate TB.
FPA Vellore Mr. M Jayaganesh conducted quiz competition for students and rendered vote of thanks. Prizes were given to students who won in quiz competition. Thanjai Mariappa Kalai Kuzhu troupe of Song and Drama performed various awareness programme on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Millets and Cleanliness.
Students from Idhaya College, Govt Arts College Kumbakonam and NSS students of various colleges participated. Many public came and updated Aadhar information in the India Post Aadhar counter in ICOP venue.
