Minister T.K. Ramachandran inaugurated projects and reviewed the performance of VOC Port

Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Secretary Mr. T.K. Ramachandran visited V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority on 05.09.2023 and 06.09.2023.

Mr. T.K. Ramachandran inaugurated the extended Wards, and Pharmacy, at Port Dispensary, functioning at Tuticorin town for the Port employees and pensioners, five e-vehicle charging stations located at various locations of the Port and the renovated Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) building at Harbour Estate.

As a part of extending social commitment to the needy people in the Port area, a new building with 7 class rooms, self-learning aids, cultural centre and play area, for Harbour Primary School established  at a cost of Rs.1.5 Crores was also inaugurated by him in the presence of Mr. Bimal Kumar Jha, Chairperson i/c, VOC Port Authority. He also visited 5 MW Solar Power plant site & 2 MW Wind farm site which were recently completed and are under trial operations.

The Secretary also reviewed the functioning of the Port and the progress of various capacity augmentation projects underway at the Port with Bimal Kumar Jha, Chairperson i/c, VOC Port Authority and senior officers of the Port. He also chaired a meeting with Port users on the projects underway at the Port.

On 05.09.2023, he paid floral tributes and garlanded the statue of legendary freedom fighter V.O. Chidambaranar to mark the 152nd Birth Anniversary of V.O. Chidambaranar.
