Madurai Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police Kumar Kodiyasaithu flagged off the marathon which started from Marriott Hotel on Alagharkoil Road, Madurai. After this, this marathon was held up to 5 kilometers. A large number of youths, athletes, social activists and policemen participated in it. Earlier, through art programs, the youth took up the issue of helping leprosy patients and their families in the society and helping them.
All 156 hotels under the Marriott International Hotels and Resorts Group have supported this by conducting various awareness programs including marathons and bicycle rallies and the proceeds are being given to Chennai-based "Rising Star Outreach of India" organization for the social development and education of leprosy patients and their families.
