Trinity super Specialty Hospital, R. S. Puram Coimbatore organizes free Eye checkup camp for the Taxi and Auto drivers for ten day in view of the World Diabetics Awareness Day. The chief Guest Thiru. Rajarajan, Deputy Commissioner of transport, Coimbatore City, inaugurated the camp on the 14th of November 2023.

Doctor Sunil Sridharan, Managing Director of Trinity Super Speciality Hospital stated about the camp that the hospital has been successfully running its branches in Palghat, Kozhikode, Trissur, Aalathur, Thirur and Nemmara in Kerala. The first branch of the hospital in Tamilnadu was launched on D. B. Road R. S. Puram, (near the head post office) Coimbatore on 1st October. The hospital has received a grand welcome and has become popular among the public through its multiple social services. As part of the social services of the Hospital and in view of the World Diabetics Awareness Day on 14th November, a free eye checkup camp has been inaugurated for the taxi and auto drivers. Today, from 14.11.2023 onwards, free eye checkup for 100 drivers per day will be done for 10 days.

14th November of every year is observed as World Diabetics Awareness Day and this year is conceived as diabetic awareness and maintenance of good health.  The World Health Organization has announced 14th November the birthday of Sir Frederick Banting and best who invented insulin for diabetic as the World diabetic awareness day.

Diabetic, a disease that has spread and affected a particular percentage of people can be kept under control. This disease was discovered many centuries back but proper treatment for this disease was invented in the 20th Century. Until then it had been considered as a dangerous disease. Awareness about diabetics has been made on the international level as it has affected people irrespective of their age.

A person is affected by diabetics due to the deficiency of segregation of insulin and the increase of sugar level in blood. India is at the top of the list of countries in the world which has more number of diabetic patients. It is important for not only patients but every common people should be aware of this disease.

According to a research, it is a hereditary disease and it affects the children of 80 percent of the patients.

Thiru. Rajarajan, the deputy commissioner of transport, Coimbatore city mentioned in his inaugural address :- Recalled a road accident near Sundarapuram in which an old man who tried who cross the road was hit by a vehicle and died on the spot. Later on an investigation on the incident revealed the truth that the driver of the vehicle had poor eyesight which was the prime cause for the accident. He also insisted on the importance checking their eye sight at least once in a year as it will protect not only them but also the public. He felicitated the care, interest and responsibility shown by the hospital on the welfare of the drivers and the public as well.

Mr. Arul Murugan, Assistant Commissioner of Police Traffic, Dr. Mohammad Sabaaz, Medical Director, Dr. Mumtaj, Dr. Anusha,  Dr. Vijayakumar,  Chief Administrative officer Jasmin, Vice President (Operations and Marketing) Johnson Vijai Mathew and Mr Ravi Kumar Associate Vice President Marketing were available during the camp.
