Annamalai University Vice Chancellor Awarded Honorary Colonel Rank

Annamalai University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. R. Kathiresan, has been awarded the Honorary Colonel rank on July 24, 2024. He is one of the 19 distinguished personalities selected from across India under the Ministry of Defence. The award ceremony was held at the University Sastri Hall, where Commodore S. Raghav, Deputy Director of National Cadet Corps for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, was the chief guest. He presented the Honorary Colonel rank to the Vice Chancellor on behalf of the Ministry of Defense and delivered a special address. Colonel RR Menon, Group Commander (Puducherry), was also present and graced the occasion.


The Honorary Colonel rank is a recognition of the Vice Chancellor's outstanding guidance and unwavering encouragement that has led to the overall success and performance of the National Cadet Corps in Annamalai University and its constituent colleges.


The Pipping ceremony was organized by the Commanding Officers of the Fourth and Sixth Tamil Nadu Battalion Groups, Colonel Vasudevan and Colonel Srinivasa Rao, respectively, as well as National Cadet Corps Officers Major. Kanagarajan, Major. Seeman, Captain. Sevi, Captain Ravi, and Lieutenant Balamurali, and National Cadet Corps cadets.


In his acceptance speech, the Vice Chancellor expressed his deep Appreciation for being part of the National Cadet Corps, a noble organization that instills leadership, situational awareness, and Various personality development skills in students from a young age. He also stated that such awards serve as a reminder of his continued commitment to serving the community.
