In his Independence Day address, Prof M Krishnan expressed immense pride in the distinguished recognition bestowed upon CUTN Chancellor Professor G. Padmanabhan, Chancellor of CUTN. He stated, "I am delighted to announce that our Chancellor, Professor G. Padmanabhan, has been conferred the prestigious Vingyan Rathna award by the Government of India. This award is a testament to his unwavering commitment to science, education and society, and it is a great honour for CUTN."

Prof. M Krishnan proudly shared that CUTN has recently been awarded an A+ rating in the second cycle of NAAC assessment and accreditation. "This A+ rating is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, students, and staff. It not only enhances our reputation but also allows us to expand our offerings through online education, which will generate new revenue streams and extend our reach," he stated.

Prof. Krishnan also highlighted that CUTN has sustained its position among the top 100 institutions in India, a distinction CUTN has maintained for three consecutive years. This achievement, he noted, makes CUTN eligible to apply for the Department of Science and Technology’s Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE) grant, which could bring in up to ₹20 crores in funding.

The Vice-Chancellor pointed out the significant improvement in CUTN’s research impact, as evidenced by the university’s H-index, which has risen from 48 to 70 over the past three years. "This remarkable growth in our research output highlights the contributions of our students and faculty to the global academic community," he added.

During his speech, Prof. Krishnan underscored CUTN's dedication to community service, particularly through the efforts of the National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) units. "Our students have been actively engaged in village outreach programs, providing essential services to rural communities. Recently, as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, our students visited villages near CUTN, distributing the national flag and promoting patriotism," he shared.

Prof. Krishnan also announced a significant initiative aimed at supporting the mental health of police personnel. In collaboration with a Madurai-based NGO, CUTN's Department of Psychology is leading “Magilchi” program to provide counselling and training to police personnel, addressing the psycho-sociological challenges they face. The Tamil Nadu government has allocated ₹30 lakhs to this important initiative.

Recognizing the invaluable contributions of non-teaching staff, Prof. Krishnan revealed a new financial support program that will allow CUTN staff members to attend conferences and workshops across the country. "Apart from teaching faculty and students, starting this year, non-teaching staff will be eligible for up to ₹60,000 in funding to attend conferences and workshops across the country " he announced.

Prof. Krishnan said CUTN has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with leading industries, including Dexian and Johnson Electric. These partnerships will provide students with three years of specialized training, along with a stipend, offering them hands-on experience and financial support during their education. "This initiative ensures that our students are well-prepared for the workforce and equipped with the practical skills needed to excel in their chosen fields," he said.

The 78th Independence Day was celebrated at CUTN with a march-past by NCC and security personnel. The event was attended by university statutory authorities including Registrar Prof. R. Thirumurugan, Finance Officer CA GR Giridharan, Controller of Examination Prof. Sulochana Shekhar, Librarian Dr. R Parameswaran, along with faculty, officers, staff, scholars, and students.
