NIT Puducherry won the 1st Prize for new Technology on Plastic Removing from Rivers

National Institute of Technology Puducherry has proudly announced that the project, titled "Removing Plastic and Microplastic in Rivers Using Nature-Based Solutions (Bubbar System)" has won the 1st Prize (Rupees One Lakh) in the inaugural ideas to Impact (i2I) Challenge, organized (09.08.2024) by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and funded by the Wipro Foundation.


Out of 2000 applicants, 701 teams advanced past the initial screening, and only 20 teams received Rs.50,000/- to prove their concepts. Among these, our team secured the top position in the water theme.


The team was led by Ms. Suvalakshmi Ananthan, a PhD student, and comprised final-year B.Tech. Civil Engineering students Mukesh R., Raja Rajan M., and Vishnu Varthan V, and the mentor of the team is Dr. Sivakumar Ramalingam, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Civil Engineering, NIT Puducherry.
