In commemoration of the Wildlife Week, OIKOS Club of the Department of Zoology and Research Centre, Lady Doak College, Madurai, organized an Inter-collegiate Meet : “Faunae’24” on 01st October, 2024.
The event saw the participation of around 120 students from 10 different colleges in and around Madurai. 12 different events such as quiz, doodling, paper presentation, poster making, mime, short film, poem writing, elocution, model making, dumb charades, photography and turn coat were organized based on the theme “Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation”.
Mr. Navaneeth Krishnan, Wildlife Filmmaker, Photographer, and Founder of Flying Hornbill served as the chief guest for the inaugural session. Mr. Navaneeth spoke about the interdependence of species and about the importance of conservation for a sustainable future. Mr. P.R. Vishwanath, Founder of Urvanam, Madurai addressed the gathering for the valedictory session. Mr. Vishwanath spoke about the continued efforts of his organization in protecting and conserving wildlife. The American College, Madurai bagged the overall winner’s trophy and St. Mary’s College, Thoothukudi won the runner up trophy.
