In a significant moment for Chennai Metro Rail and the city’s history, the Nanganallur Road Metro Station has been officially renamed as the OTA-Nanganallur Road Metro Station. The renaming was unveiled in a prestigious ceremony by Lieutenant General KS Brar, AVSM, General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Bharat Area marking an important step in commemorating the region’s unique identity.
This renaming pays tribute to the contribution of the armed forces which have been a cornerstone in shaping and securing the future of the country. The renaming was initiated and saw light of the day through sustained efforts by Dakshin Bharat Area which ensured that the dedication, service, and excellence of the Army and it's institutions like OTA are given due recognition for their contribution.
During the unveiling ceremony, Lt Gen KS Brar, AVSM, General Officer Commanding, Dakshin Bharat Area expressed his gratitude, saying: “The renaming of this metro station is not only a tribute to the Brave hearts of Officers Training Academy but also a celebration of the connection between the people of Chennai and the Armed Forces. We hope this inspires the younger generation to imbibe the values of service and patriotism.”
The event witnessed the presence of Shri Thiru MA Siddique, IAS Managing Director, Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) and Lt Gen Michael AJ Fernandez, AVSM, VSM Commandant, OTA Chennai.
