National Constitution Day was celebrated by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Central Bureau of Communication at SRM TRP Engineering College Tiruchirapalli on November 26, 2024. Constitution Preamble pledge was taken by students. My Constitution My Pride padayatra was taken inside college campus to create awareness about constitution among students.
Shri K Devi Padmanabhan Assistant Director Central Bureau of Communication Field Office Trichy in his special address said that this is the moment to recall the sacrifices of freedom fighters who fought for our Independence and paved way for the largest democratic republic in the world. He said that on November 26, 1949 Constitution drafted by Dr Br Ambedkar led committee was accepted by Constituent Assembly and later on January 26, 1950 India became a republic. Our Constitution has imbibed the essence of British and French Constitutions and stressed the importance of Executive Legislature and Judiciary. He said that Indian Democracy has stood the test of time and has strengthened over the years. He pointed out responsibilities of youth in safeguarding democracy and remembered former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam who as a scientist turned President is inspiration for youth.
Dr M Sivakumar Principal SRM TRP Engg College in his presidential address pointed out that Indian Constitution is longest written constitution in the world. He urged students to know about our democratic values to progress in life. He asked them to give importance to studies as well as democratic values.
Shri K Subramaniyan, Chairman Indian Red Cross Society Trichy East in his special address spoke about the importance of constitution in making India strong democracy. He pointed out the sacrifices made by freedom fighters like Gandhiji Pandit Nehru Netaji Sardar Patel in getting Independence and integrating nation. He urged youth to get inspired by freedom fighters and uphold democratic values. He spoke about adult franchise and success of democracy in our country.
Shri S Vincent President Irungalur village panchayat in his special address urged students to give importance to extra curricular activities alongwith students. He asked students to utilize various government schemes. He asked students to utilize power of democracy to serve people. He asked youth to serve people through democratic process.
Shri R Maheswaran Prog Asst NYK Trichy welcomed the gathering. Field Publicity Asst CBC Trichy Shri S Arunkumar, Shri S Dharmarajan NSS Programme Officer, Shri G Purushothaman ELC Coordinator attended the programme, NSS Programme Officer Shri Indhusekharan rendered vote of thanks. Students who won in various competitions on Indian Constitution were given certificates.
