Brain-Dead Youth in Chennai Donates Organs: 8 Lives Saved

The organs of a young man in Chennai, who was declared brain-dead following an accident, were donated and helped save the lives of 8 critically ill patients. Jairesh (20) from Nagercoil met with a severe accident while riding his motorcycle last week and suffered critical injuries. He was rushed to Medway Hospital in Kodambakkam, Chennai, for treatment. Despite receiving intensive care, he was declared brain-dead by the doctors.


Following this, Jairesh's parents decided to donate his organs. With the guidance of the hospital’s medical team, Jairesh’s heart, two kidneys, two eyes, liver, and skin were harvested for transplantation.One Liver was immediately transplanted to a patient undergoing treatment at the same hospital. The other organs were sent to government hospitals like Chennai Medical College Hospital and Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, as well as to private hospitals for further transplants.Through this organ donation, Jayresh’s parents remarked that their son gave life to 8 individuals. "Even in death, our son lives on. We are grateful to Medway Hospital for their guidance and support," they said.


After the organ donation process, Medway Hospital honored Jayresh’s body with floral tributes. Doctors, nurses, and staff paid their final respects to the young man before sending his body for funeral rites.The hospital’s doctors shared, "Organ donation from brain-dead individuals can save the lives of patients who have been waiting for organs for months. Jayresh’s parents voluntarily came forward to donate his organs, which will benefit 8 individuals. We pray for the departed soul’s peace."
