The Madurai Press Association, in collaboration with Sri Ramachandra Eye Hospital and Crystal Vision Opticals, organized a free eye medical camp for journalists and their families. The event took place at the Madurai Press Association Hall in the Mattuthavani area of Madurai.
The founder of Sri Ramachandra Eye Hospital, Dr. S. Srinivasan, along with the President of the Madurai Journalists Association, Mr. S. Kathiravan, Secretary Mr. S. Ramesh Pandian, Treasurer Mr. K. Subramanian, and executive committee members, participated in the camp. Over 200 people attended the camp, where comprehensive eye checkups and consultations were provided free of charge.
As part of the camp, it was announced that laser eye treatments valued at Rs.1,00,000 would be made available for Rs.20,000, thanks to the collaboration between the organizations.
The camp was inaugurated by lighting the ceremonial lamp by several distinguished guests, including Dr. S. Srinivasan, owner of Crystal Vision Opticals Mr. Thahiya, Regional Head Vasuki Sasikumar, Madurai Bench High Court Government Advocate Mr. Anbunithi, Meenakshi Amman Temple Trust Member Mrs. Meena Anbunithi, Hi-Tech Arai Private Limited Director Mr. Mathivanan, and Puthur Police Station Inspector Mr. Madasamy.
During the inauguration, Mr. S. Kathiravan, President of the Press Association, Secretary Mr.S.Ramesh Pandian Treasurer Mr.K.Subramanian, welcomed the special guests with floral bouquets and shawls.
Dr. S. Srinivasan expressed his delight in organizing such a camp for journalists and their families. He thanked the association and its leadership for the opportunity and announced that his hospital would issue free medical examination cards for association members and their families in the future.
Regional Head Vasuki Sasikumar praised the initiative, stating that participating in a camp organized by the association, which was established during the tenure of former Chief Minister Kalaignar Karunanidhi, was an honor. She also pledged to support participants in obtaining their prescribed eyewear.
Hi-Tech Group Director Mr. Mathiyazhagan expressed his happiness in participating in annual events like these organized by the Journalists Association.
Government Advocate Mr. Anbunithi shared his appreciation, noting that the members of the association had a familial bond that made such events special.
The camp served as a platform to reinforce community ties while offering essential medical services to journalists and their families.
