The recipient, a 46-year-old male with diabetes, hypertension, and chronic kidney disease, was undergoing maintenance dialysis and faced challenges in finding a compatible ‘O’ blood group donor within his family. After exploring other options, the medical team proceeded with an ABO-incompatible renal transplant, with the donor being the patient’s 38-year-old wife of ‘B’ positive blood group.

The transplant surgery, performed on December 18, 2024, was a resounding success, with the patient exhibiting good urine output immediately post-surgery and achieving normal renal function by the fourth postoperative day.
