Pondicherry University signed a Letter of Collaboration (LOC) with Oregon State University, Corvallis, United States of America (USA), during a ceremony held on the Pondicherry University campus. The LOC was exchanged by Prof. Rajneesh Bhutani, Registrar (i/c) of Pondicherry University, and Prof. Susan M. Shaw, LOC Coordinator from Oregon State University, in the presence of Prof. K. Tharanikkarasu, Vice Chancellor (i/c); Prof. S. Victor Anandkumar, Dean - International Relations; Dr. Kamalaveni, Coordinator – LOC; and Dr. Aashita, Head of the Centre for Women’s Studies. This partnership aims to foster academic collaboration through student and faculty exchange programs between the two universities.

Pondicherry University is honoured to partner with such a prestigious institution, thereby strengthening international academic ties and enhancing opportunities for cross-border learning and research. Speaking at the event, Prof. K. Tharanikkarasu underscored the importance of global partnerships in achieving excellence in higher education. He emphasized that this collaboration would expose students to advanced academic practices and a diverse cultural environment, preparing them for global challenges. Prof. S. Victor Anandkumar highlighted the mutual benefits of the LOC, including exposure to innovative pedagogical methods and leading-edge research collaborations.
Prof. Susan M. Shaw expressed admiration for the enthusiasm and determination of Indian students pursuing international academic opportunities. She emphasized the significance of cultural preparation for students studying in the USA and assured that Oregon State University would provide a supportive "buddy system" to help students integrate smoothly. She remarked, "This partnership is not just an academic exchange; it is a journey of transformation, shaping the futures of students and fostering deep intercultural understanding." Dr. Kamalaveni, Coordinator – LOC, expressed confidence in the potential of the collaboration to facilitate meaningful academic exchanges. She proposed that student and faculty exchange programs would commence from the academic year 2025-26, with prospects for funding through scholarships to cover travel and living expenses for Pondicherry University students participating in the exchange.
Dr. Aashita, Head of the Centre for Women’s Studies, highlighted the broader impact of such partnerships in strengthening bilateral cooperation in higher education between India and the USA. She affirmed that this LOC reflects Pondicherry University's commitment to providing its students with global exposure and fostering international academic excellence.
