On the third day of Kashi Tamil Sangamam.3, a group of farmers from Tamil Nadu arrived at Hanuman Ghat, where they bathed in the sacred Ganga, offered prayers to the river goddess, and sought blessings for happiness and prosperity. Simultaneously, the Acharyas present provided students with in-depth insights into the history of various ghats along the Ganga. Kashi Tamil Sangamam, organized by the Union Ministry of Education, is aimed at realizing the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. This marks the third edition of the event, following two successful iterations.
Sacred Dip in Ganga at Hanuman Ghat
After taking a holy dip in the Ganga, the guests visited and offered prayers at the ancient temples on the ghat. They were provided with insights into the rich history, spiritual significance, and architectural grandeur of these temples. Following this, the Tamil guests proceeded to Subrahmanya Bharati's house at Hanuman Ghat, where they met his family members. Later, the group visited Kanchi Math to learn about its historical and cultural significance. The youth in the group were particularly excited to witness a South Indian temple in the heart of Kashi.
Scholars Highlight the Unique Significance of the Temple
Pt. Venkat Raman Ghanpati emphasized the deep-rooted connection between Kashi and Tamil Nadu, stating that this bond is not just a matter of a fortnight but has existed for centuries. He highlighted that a ‘mini Tamil Nadu’ thrives in Kashi, particularly around Hanuman Ghat, Kedar Ghat, and Harishchandra Ghat, where thousands of families from various South Indian states reside. This enduring presence, he noted, reflects the strong and harmonious relationship between the two regions.
