As part of the Sivagangai District Administration's initiative, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Science Movement, a planetarium has been set up at the Fourth Book Festival, attracting a large audience.
The planetarium was inaugurated on February 21 by Manamadurai MLA Tamilarasi Ravikumar. Sivagangai District Collector Asha Ajith and Karaikudi MLA Mangudi presided over the event. From 10 AM to 10 PM, various programs, including performances by school and college students, cultural shows, debates, lectures, and poetry sessions, are being conducted.
By the sixth day of the event, over 7,000 students, college students, and the general public had enthusiastically visited the planetarium. They were amazed by the 3D videos explaining planetary movements, satellite operations, and the extinction and evolution of life forms on Earth.
Scientific explanations about the planets are being effectively presented by Sivagangai District Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Science Movement, Arokiasamy. Science coordinators Prabhu, Manavalan, Ananthakrishnan, Rajasaravanan, Ashok Bharathi, Ganesan, Pandi, Thomas, and Arokia Mary, along with Vanavil Forum moderators, are overseeing the sessions.
So far, more than 7,000 students have visited the planetarium with great enthusiasm, filling the venue to capacity.
