To raise awareness about cervical cancer among the public, the Rotary Club has launched an awareness journey from Kanyakumari, which will cover approximately 2,500 kilometers to spread knowledge about cervical cancer.
This awareness vehicle was launched on May 13, 2025, in Kanyakumari as a joint initiative by Madurai Downtown Rotary Club (Rotary District 3000) and Rotary Club of Tirunelveli Thamirabarani (Rotary District 3212), with the goal of spreading awareness about cervical cancer throughout Tamil Nadu. The team will travel across various districts in Tamil Nadu, explaining the symptoms of cancer, early detection methods, and preventive vaccinations. Pamphlets with information about cervical cancer are also being distributed to the public.
Starting from Kanyakumari, the awareness journey will pass through Nagercoil, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Kadayanallur, Puliyankudi, Sankarankovil, Rajapalayam, Srivilliputhur, Sivakasi, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Karur, Namakkal, Salem, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Hosur, Tirupattur, Thiruvannamalai, Puducherry, Chennai, Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Perambalur, and Trichy. It will conclude in Madurai on the 19th.
The entire journey spans 2,500 kilometers. The event is organized under the guidance of Rotary District 3000 Governor Raja Govindasamy and Rotary District 3212 Governor Meeran Khan Saleem, with efforts led by Rotary Club Madurai Downtown President Thirumalaipappan, Secretary Velmurugan, Rotary Club of Thamirabarani Tirunelveli President Perumal, and Secretary Shiv Durai.
Former Governors R.V.N. Kannan (from Madurai) and Arumuga Pandian (from Tirunelveli), along with past Assistant Governors P.K. Saravanan and P. Raymond Patrick, also participated in the journey.
