On International Yoga Day, Vadnagar, the historic town in Gujarat, entered the Guinness World Records for the “Most People Performing Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana)”. The mass yoga event was organized by the Gujarat Yog Board in association with the Ministry of Ayush.
Over 1,000 participants performed the Cobra Pose in unison at the scenic Tana-Riri Garden in Vadnagar. The performance adhered strictly to Guinness World Records guidelines, ensuring precision and synchronisation.
Vadnagar, the birthplace of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, served as a symbolic venue for the record attempt. Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Home Shri Harsh Sanghavi joined the participants.
Their involvement encouraged public participation and highlighted the state’s dedication to wellness. The record attempt was executed by Shri Nischal Barot, Guinness consultant and founder of Kemi’s Connect.
Mr. Barot has successfully managed over 60 world record attempts globally for government and institutional bodies. His team oversaw logistics, steward training, and digital tracking for real-time Guinness validation. Speaking at the event, Mr. Barot called it “a proud and special moment in a culturally rich town like Vadnagar.”
He credited the achievement to the unity and spirit of the people of Gujarat.

It also emphasized yoga’s role in holistic health, community well-being, and cultural pride.The celebration aligned with India’s global image as a wellness and yoga capital. Strict standards and mass participation ensured the record’s credibility and ignificance.This milestone reinforces Gujarat’s commitment to traditional Indian health practices and global recognition in yoga.
