Eleventh International Day of Yoga was celebrated by Vivekananda Yoga Centre at Ramakrishna Mandapam Srirangam on June 21, 2025. More than 500 persons from all walks of life including students participated in Yoga Sangam synchronised mass yoga demonstration based on Common Yoga Protocol.
Shri K Devi Padmanabhan, Assistant Director Central Bureau of Communication, Government of India Tiruchirapalli in his keynote address said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has spread the message of Yoga globally. He pointed out how our Prime Minister has explained the power of Yoga to the then US President Shri Barack Obama in 2014 and later introduced resolution in United Nations to celebrate International Day of Yoga on June 21 every day from 2015 onwards. June 21 was proposed by Shri Narendra Modi as it is summer solstice longest day of the year. Yoga day is being celebrated each year with various themes like Humanity, climate change, Home and family, Yoga for health yoga at home during covid period. He said Yoga for one earth one health is the theme for Yoga Day this year. This symbolises concept of Vasudaiva kudumbagam world is one family. He stressed that Yoga is the treasure given to the world by India and was passed on to us over the years by rishis and sages.
Dr R Sridhar Yoga Master Vivekananda Yoga Centre led various yogasanas as per common protocol including Utkatasana, Tadasana, Paadahastasana, Ardha chakrasana, Trikonasana, Vajrasana, sethubandhasana. Later Dr T Santhanakrishnan Yoga master Vivekananda Yoga Centre performed various breathing exercises pranayams. The Yoga masters stressed importance of Yoga for healthy living and urged participants to perform yoga daily.
Padmasri Shri M Subburaman in his felicitation address highlighted importance of Cleanliness and yoga in preventing spread of diseases. Padmasri Sheikh Mahaboob Subhani and Padmasri Kaleeshabi Mahaboob were felicitated. Shri S Arunkumar Field Publicity Assistant Central Bureau of Communication Trichy participated in the Yoga Day event. Participation certificates were given to all yoga performers including students.
