In line with the recent national launch of the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” (SNSPA) by  Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, JIPMER has taken proactive steps to empower women and strengthen families through targeted health awareness programmes across Puducherry. These initiatives focus on promoting the physical, mental, and nutritional well-being of women and children, reflecting the Prime Minister’s vision of building a healthier and empowered nation. Beneficiaries were also informed about government health schemes, including AB-PMJAY and the significance of ABHA IDs for maintaining digital health records.

The campaign at Kasturba College for Women, Villianur, Puducherry, reaching over 100 students and women. The awareness sessions focused on critical themes including women’s wellness, mental health and stress management, preventive care such as gynecological cancer awareness and HPV vaccination, the Eat Right Campaign promoting safe and nutritious food habits, as well as safe blood and organ donation practices.

At JIPMER Rural Health Centre, Ramanathapuram, a Mega Health Camp was conducted at Pillayar Kuppam Community Hall, featuring 15 specialized stalls dedicated to women’s healthcare. The camp provided comprehensive services, including anemia screening, blood pressure and BMI checks, breast and cervical cancer awareness, nutritional counselling, and lifestyle guidance. Women from the local community participated, receiving personalized consultations and educational materials to empower them in making informed health decisions.

Simultaneously, the JIPMER Urban Health Centre, Kurusukuppam extended the campaign to Deepsthal School, focusing on both adolescent girls and adult women. Activities included anemia screening for students, nutrition-focused health talks and menstrual hygiene awareness sessions.

JIPMER, Karaikal and JIPMER, Yanam centres have extensively carrying out this campaign among regional beneficiaries as well in way of various health melas and awareness sessions.

In this line, Major health camps have been scheduled as follows:

23rd September – at Ayandur Village, Villupuram District.

25th September – at Hindusthan Glass Factory, Thondamantham, exclusively for industrial women workers.

26th September – at Dhadhankuppam Village, near Gingee, Villupuram District.

Together, these initiatives reflect JIPMER’s holistic approach to women’s health—combining screenings, preventive care, awareness, and digital health facilitation—thereby fostering a well-informed, healthier, and empowered community. By reaching out to both students and women in the community, the SNSPA campaign continues to bridge gaps in healthcare access and education, reinforcing JIPMER’s role as a catalyst for positive health transformation.
