The Department of Green Energy Technology, Pondicherry University, organized the installation ceremony of the ISHRAE Student Chapter and marked a significant milestone in fostering industry–academia collaboration and promoting awareness on energy-efficient technologies among students.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Prof A. Sreekumar from the Department of Green Energy Technology. This was followed by the felicitation of dignitaries, including Mr B. Murugavel, Chief Skill Officer, SHIELD Group of Institution, who lauded the initiative as a platform for enhancing students’ professional competencies.
Prof K. Tharanikkarasu, Director, SEI & RR, Pondicherry University, delivered the Presidential Address, highlighting the importance of sustainable practices and the role of young engineers in shaping a greener future.
The inaugural address was delivered by Mr A. Thiagarajan, President, ISHRAE Puducherry Sub Chapter, who emphasized ISHRAE’s mission to empower students with practical exposure, technical knowledge, and industry engagement.
Special felicitations were extended to Mr H. Shri Ram, Student Activity Chair, ISHRAE Puducherry Sub Chapter, and Prof B.M. Jaffar Ali, Dean (i/c), MSoGET, Pondicherry University, for their support in strengthening the collaboration.
The ceremony concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr K. Karthik Selva Kumar, Faculty in Charge of the ISHRAE Student Chapter. He expressed gratitude to ISHRAE Puducherry Sub Chapter and the university administration for their encouragement.
Following the formal session, students participated in an orientation programme and expert lecture delivered by resource persons from ISHRAE, aimed at inspiring future innovators in the field of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC&R) with a focus on sustainable energy solutions.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, students, and ISHRAE representatives, making it a memorable beginning for the newly formed Student Chapter at Pondicherry University.
