Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Coimbatore organized Manak Mahotsav as a part of World Standards Day 2025 Celebration on October 28, 2025 at Hotel Merlis, Coimbatore to acknowledge the vital role that standards play in our daily lives. This year's theme continues under the multi-year campaign, ‘Shared vision for a better world, with a focus on Sustainable Development Goal - SDG 17: Partnerships for Goals’, underscores the significance of standards in meaningful collaboration across industries, governments, and organizations to achieve common objectives.
Around 350 participants from Various Industrial sector, Govt Officials, Manufacturer associations, Academicians, Laboratory personals, and BIS Standard club members from Engineering Colleges (College Students and Mentors) attended the programme.
The World Standards Day Celebration was inaugurated by Padma Shri. Dr. G. Bakthavathsalam, Founder, KG Hospital, Coimbatore who was the Chief Guest for the meet, he stressed upon the importance of Standards, Quality and their importance in achieving excellence.
Smt. G. Bhavani, Scientist-F & Head, Bis Coimbatore Branch Office detailed on the importance of World Standards Day and theme of World Standards Day 2025 to the participants.
Shri V. Ramesh, Director, BIS Coimbatore read this year’s World Standards Day message received from ISO/ITU and IEC and briefed about the importance of SDGs and role of Indian standards to the participants gathered at the event.
Dr. Meenakshi Ganesan, Deputy Director General, Bureau of Indian Standards (Southern Region) in her Inaugural address emphasized on role of Standards in better planning of industrial operations and development of innovative products and services.
Guest of Honor, Dr. Shankar Prabhakaran, Director-Operations, KGiSL Institute of Technology and Sciences presented the details about Redefining Standards for Disruptive Technologies and Sustainable Future.
Shri. Ravi Ganapathy, Regional Director, GovEVA, Chennai, Guest of Honor, presented the importance of ESG Practices by Industry to secure Sustainable Future for all.
As a part of World Standards Day Celebrations, BIS Coimbatore is conducting Run for Quality-Marathon on Novemeber 01, 2025 at Race Course, Coimbatore. During the event, the logo for Run for Quality-Marathon will be unveiled by the Chief Guest.
The event also featured felicitation of All India First Licence, Regional First Licences, Best Performing Standards Clubs’ Mentors and Resource persons. Prizes were also distributed for winners of National Online Quiz Competitions and Branch Level Quiz Competitions. The students were accompanied with their parents.
