JIPMER Observes CPR Awareness Week 2025

To promote awareness and build lifesaving skills among the public, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, is observing CPR Awareness Week from 13th to 17th October 2025 across the country.


As part of this national initiative, the Department of Emergency Medicine and Trauma Care, JIPMER, is organizing a CPR Awareness Camp from 13th to 17th October 2025 with the theme — “Every Minute with CPR = Higher Chances of Survival.” The program aims to help participants understand the importance of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), key steps in emergency response, and how to correctly perform compression-only CPR — a vital skill that can significantly increase survival rates during cardiac emergencies.


JIPMER, being the Regional Nodal Centre for Disaster Preparedness, has been actively involved in strengthening the community’s resilience by enhancing skills and knowledge to face unforeseen emergencies and natural calamities. The institution regularly conducts training programs to empower the general public to respond effectively during crises. As part of this initiative, a public demonstration and hands-on training session on CPR was organized for the general public, patient attenders, teachers, homemakers, farmers, students, and JIPMER staff. Several training stalls were set up at key locations across the JIPMER campus to ensure wide participation and accessibility.


JIPMER Nursing College also organised various activities for the CPR awareness week in which 250 Students of Nursing College, JIPMER has taken the CPR pledge and a Quiz on CPR was organised for the Undergraduate Nursing students.


Through these sessions, participants gained essential life-saving skills and confidence to act swiftly during cardiac emergencies. The program reinforces JIPMER’s continued commitment to strengthening community preparedness, promoting public health, and saving lives through timely interventions.
