MEPZ SEZ Clears ₹158-Crore Investments, 2,700 Jobs to Emerge Across TAP Region

The Unit Approval Committee (UAC) of MEPZ Special Economic Zone, chaired by Thiru. Alex Paul Menon, IAS, Development Commissioner, has approved eight new Units, unlocking over ₹158 Crores in investments across the Tamil Nadu, Andaman & Puducherry (TAP) Region. The approvals are set to create more than 2,700 jobs, marking a major push to strengthen the region’s industrial competitiveness.


The newly approved investments span critical sectors including renewable energy, IT/ITES, engineering, and advanced manufacturing. Key highlights include:


M/s Suzlon Energy Limited will establish a Unit in Coimbatore with an investment of ₹58 Crore, generating 1,010 jobs.


M/s IBM India Private Limited will invest ₹54.34 Crores in Indialand Tech Park, KGISL SEZ, Coimbatore, creating 600 skilled positions.


M/s Schneider Electric Systems India Private Limited will launch a new Unit at Gateway Office Parks Private Limited, contributing approximately 500 jobs.


In a standout commitment to talent development and gender inclusion, M/s Sanmina Tech Services India Pvt. Ltd. has pledged to award 100 scholarships under the MEPZ SEZ Women in Engineering Scholarship initiative. The program is designed to encourage more women to pursue mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering careers—an important step toward closing gender gaps in high-demand technical fields.


These approvals underscore MEPZ SEZ’s growing role as a catalyst for sustainable industrial growth, skill development, and economic empowerment across the TAP Region.
