Signify, the world leader in lighting, has announced the LED streetlighting of 100 villages along the 1,700 km Indo–Nepal border, in collaboration with Tarq Foundation, under its #BrighterLivesBetterWorld vision. Guided by Shri Rajnath Singh Ji, Defence Minister of India, the initiative focuses on creating safer, better-connected, and more empowered border communities where limited lighting has long affected mobility, safety, and economic activity after dusk.

Through its Har Gaon Roshan CSR initiative, Signify is deploying energy-efficient LED streetlights to improve rural safety and quality of life. Mr. Nikhil Gupta, Head of Marketing, Strategy, Govt. Affairs & CSR – Signify, Greater India, emphasized that the project aims to deliver long-term safety, sustainability, and confidence to border villages by using innovation to drive community empowerment and inclusive growth.

Highlighting the people-centric approach, Manoviraj Singh, Founding Partner at Tarq Foundation, noted that villages were selected based on community inputs, footfall patterns, and real safety concerns. The initiative addresses everyday needs—such as evening markets, school commutes, and women’s safety—making light a practical, protective, and empowering force, and reinforcing a shared commitment to resilient and thriving border communities.
