Surana & Surana International Attorneys (SSIA) hosted its annual Diplomats Nite in Chennai, celebrating the contributions of the diplomatic community in strengthening trade, investment, and cultural ties with Tamil Nadu. The event welcomed Consul Generals from Germany, France, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan, Thailand, and Sri Lanka, highlighting the state’s broad international relationships.
The 2026 edition was particularly significant in light of global economic shifts and the recent India–EU Free Trade Agreement, poised to create new avenues for collaboration. The evening’s theme, “Silapadigaram to Silicon Valley,” reflected Tamil Nadu’s journey from its classical heritage to a hub of innovation, industry, and intellectual capital.
Chief Guest, H.E. Juan Antonio March Pujol, Ambassador of Spain to India, emphasized the importance of cultural exchange, noting strengthened India–Spain relations, the 2026 joint year for culture, tourism, and AI, and the potential for collaborative initiatives across commerce and academia.
Dr. Vinod Surana, Managing Partner & CEO, highlighted Tamil Nadu’s robust economic performance—contributing 9.2% to India’s GDP, 11.9% to manufacturing output, and 10% to exports—and Chennai’s emergence as a strategic center for healthcare, education, automotive, electronics, defence, research, and startups.
Through MOUs with the Tamil Nadu government and iTNT, SSIA is building a world-class legal services and tech ecosystem, with plans to expand into Tier-2 cities, supporting the state’s growing economy and fostering international partnerships.
