The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Coimbatore Branch Office, organized a Manak Manthan programme at Bharathiyar Hall, Hindusthan College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore. The programme focused on discussions regarding IS 18692:2024 – Coaching Centre Services: Requirements and IS 19234:2025 – Online Coaching Services: Requirements (SSD-04).
In her welcome address, G. Bhavani, Scientist-F / Senior Director & Head, BIS, Coimbatore highlighted the importance of standardization in coaching and online coaching services to ensure quality and reliability.
The event featured addresses by distinguished dignitaries. Dr. R. Devi Priya, Principal, KPR Institute of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, addressed the gathering as Guest of Honour and emphasized the role of standards in improving the quality of education and institutional practices. This was followed by a special address by Dr. A. Ponnusamy, Principal, Hindusthan College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore. welcoming the initiative and appreciating efforts to strengthen the coaching ecosystem. He emphasized the need for structured standards in both online and offline coaching to ensure transparency, accountability, and consistent quality. He noted that well-defined benchmarks would improve teaching practices, protect students’ interests, and build trust among parents and stakeholders.
An overview of BIS activities and initiatives was presented by Shri Suresh Kumar Gopalan, Scientist-C / Deputy Director, BIS, Coimbatore. providing insights into the role of BIS in the development and implementation of national standards.
A Technical presentation on IS 18692:2024 and IS 19234:2025 was delivered by Aditya Bhatt, Scientist-C / Deputy Director, BIS Headquarters, New Delhi, explaining the key requirements and provisions of the standards for coaching centres and online coaching service providers.
The programme also included an interactive open house discussion session, where participants shared their views and clarified queries related to the standards.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Vinith Kumar G, Scientist-E / Director, BIS, Coimbatore.
