Rao Hospital, leading women and children’s hospital located at RS Puram has brought laurels to Tamil Nadu by securing two prestigious prizes at the Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Gynaecological Endoscopists (IAGE), held in Kolkata from March 20–22, 2026.
In the Under-45 category, among 43 participants, Dr. Harshini Thirumaran was awarded the Second Prize for her video presentation titled “The Precision Duo for Isthmocele Repair.”, while Dr.Kiruthika T secured the Third Prize for her presentation on “OHVIRA Syndrome: A Rare Adult Clinical Surprise.” Both presentations showcased complex and rare surgical cases performed at Rao Hospital. These advanced procedures were led by Dr. Damodar Rao, Lead Surgeon – Gynaec Endoscopy & Endometriosis Excision Specialist, with the support of his team. The videos received high appreciation from the judges and audience alike for the complexity of the cases and the exceptional precision with which the surgeries were performed.
Adding to the pride, the Tamil Nadu Chapter of IAGE was conferred the Best Chapter Award at the conference. Speaking on the achievement, Dr. Damodar Rao, Secretary of TN IAGE, said: “It is truly a proud moment for our Tamil Nadu chapter to be recognized for our continuous efforts in conducting impactful conferences focused on hysteroscopy, fibroids, and YUVA-IAGE. Through these initiatives, we train surgeons not only in the fundamentals but also in advanced hysteroscopy and laparoscopy techniques, with the aim of enhancing surgical precision and improving patient care.”
