Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli held its Fourteenth Convocation ceremony on April 4, 2026, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of its graduating students. The ceremony symbolised not only the conferment of degrees but also a moment of transition, as students prepared to step into professional roles in an increasingly complex and dynamic world.

The event was graced by Vijay Sankar, Chairman of The Sanmar Group and Senior Vice President of FICCI, who attended as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was presided over by Jalaj Dani, Chairman of the Board of Governors, in the presence of Godwin Tennyson, Director (In-charge) of the institute.

Presenting the annual report for the academic year 2025–26, Dr. Godwin Tennyson outlined the institute’s continued progress in academic excellence, research output, and institutional growth. He noted that the Doctoral Programme in Management admitted 11 scholars during the year, while the Executive Doctoral Programme enrolled nine participants. Three scholars graduated at the convocation, contributing to the institute’s growing research footprint through publications in reputed journals and presentations at national and international conferences. The institute also conducted 17 research seminars and a dedicated research workshop, strengthening its academic ecosystem.

At the postgraduate level, the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) saw 407 students graduate this year. The curriculum was enriched with 69 elective courses and active engagement with 66 industry experts, ensuring alignment with contemporary business practices. Academic excellence was recognised through merit awards for 15 students, while 18 students benefited from the institute’s academic fee waiver scheme.

The Post Graduate Programme in Human Resources (PGPM HR) recorded 50 graduates, continuing to strengthen its domain focus through mentorship and industry engagement. Similarly, the Post Graduate Programme in Business Management (PGPBM), designed for working professionals, also saw 50 participants graduate, with emphasis on live projects and practitioner-led learning.

In his address, Jalaj Dani spoke about the evolving nature of leadership in a world defined by uncertainty and rapid change. He urged graduates to develop clarity of thought and sound judgment, especially in situations where answers are not readily available. Emphasising critical thinking, he highlighted that success in leadership depends on the ability to make thoughtful decisions under pressure.

Chief Guest Vijay Sankar, in his convocation address, shared reflections from his personal and professional journey. He stressed that success is not determined by the circumstances one is born into, but by how one responds to challenges. Acknowledging that failure is an inevitable part of life, he encouraged graduates to remain resilient and view setbacks as learning opportunities.

He also outlined four guiding principles for success—persistence, positivity, preparation, and valuing people—stating that these qualities play a crucial role in shaping effective professionals. He further emphasised the importance of giving back to society, noting that meaningful contributions often go unnoticed but have lasting impact.

The convocation concluded on a note of reflection and responsibility, reminding graduates that education extends beyond academic achievement. As they move forward, they carry not only knowledge but also the responsibility to act with integrity, lead with purpose, and contribute meaningfully to society.
