A felicitation ceremony was organised in Madurai to honour three Rotary members who emerged victorious in the recently concluded Assembly elections.
In the Assembly elections, three members associated with Rotary clubs contested on behalf of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in constituencies across Madurai district. Karthikeyan, a member of the Madurai Jallikattu Rotary Club, won from the Madurai East constituency, while Karuppaiah secured victory from the Sholavandan constituency. Gopison, a member of the Royal Rotary Club, won from the Madurai South constituency.
Among them, MLA Karuppaiah also served as the Pro-tem Speaker and administered the oath of office to all MLAs, including Chief Minister Vijay.
The felicitation event was jointly organised by the Madurai Jallikattu Rotary Club and the Royal Rotary Club to honour the winning MLAs. Rotary Club presidents Kathiravan and Praveenkumar presided over the function, while Governor Karthik attended as the chief guest and honoured the elected representatives.
Rotary members Aadhavan and Dugathi compered the event.
Several prominent personalities participated in the programme, including former MLA Saravanan, Tirupparankundram Temple Trustee Shanmugasundaram, former Rotary Governor Shanmuga Sundaram, zonal coordinators Ramesh and Ramanathan, assistant governors Suresh Pandian and Ram Sundar, industrialist MMG Ganesan, Rotary secretaries Shanmugam and Balamurugan, treasurers Shanmugam and Vijay, along with many Rotary members and guests.
The event arrangements and coordination were carried out by Assistant Governor Nellai Balu.
