Inaugurating the programme, Smt. Sonal Mishra, Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), highlighted the Government of India's vision behind consolidating twenty-nine existing Central Labour Laws into four comprehensive codes. She emphasized that the reforms are founded on simplification and universalization, introducing key digital compliance reforms like the Single Licence System, Single Registration System, and Single Return System. Smt. Mishra further explained that the new codes provide for guaranteed minimum wages, a nationally determined floor wage, and the extension of social security coverage to the unorganized workforce.
Following the inaugural session, Dr. Srinu Dara, Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Chennai, led a detailed technical session covering practical implementation aspects. The session detailed revised methodologies for computing wages and gratuity, statutory changes in working hours, enhanced occupational safety standards, and the migration of records to integrated digital portals.
The programme registered participation from approximately 150 delegates, including senior executives, contractors, and compliance officers from DAE units like IGCAR, MAPS, GSO, BHAVINI, and BARC/NRB, alongside representatives from NLC and CPCL. The event concluded with an extensive interactive segment where officials addressed stakeholder queries on implementation timelines and compliance expectations.
