EPFO Hosts PM-VBRY Regional Employment Programme in Chennai

Union Ministry of Labour & Employment, in coordination with the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Regional Office (Tambaram) and Zonal Office (Chennai), organized a special regional programme today at Sri Ramachandra Hospital & Medical College, Porur, Chennai.


The event was organized in tandem with the national programme held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, where the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, officially disbursed incentives and benefits under the flagship Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY).


The regional event at Porur was graced by Chief Guests Shri V. R. Venkataachalam, Chancellor, and Prof. Dr. Uma Sekar, Vice-Chancellor of Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER). The event was attended by 838 participants, including 743 individual beneficiaries, 53 employers, industry association representatives, public representatives, senior State Government officials, and EPFO officers and staff. During the function, employers physically handed over 60 new employment letters to newly recruited members.


The national event from Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, which was attended by Union Minister of Labour & Employment Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of State Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, was broadcast live at the Porur venue. Addressing the country, the Hon'ble Prime Minister highlighted that the flagship Employment-Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme has already supported the creation of 15 lakh employment opportunities nationwide, bringing nearly 70 lakh first-time employees under the security net of the EPFO.


Speaking at the regional event, the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Uma Sekar, Vice-Chancellor of SRIHER, welcomed the gathering and expressed deep pride in host facility’s involvement. She remarked, "This scheme provides tremendous encouragement for both employees and employers. By generating fresh employment opportunities and ensuring social security benefits, PM-VBRY is a cornerstone for sustained employment and productivity in India."
