Reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and responsible hospitality, ibis India, part of the Accor portfolio, has undertaken a large-scale beach clean-up campaign across Mumbai, Goa, Chennai, and Kochi, mobilising employees, local organisations, civic authorities, and community volunteers to protect and restore India’s coastlines.

The initiative focused on removing plastic waste, litter, and other pollutants from beaches and shoreline areas, contributing to cleaner coastal environments while promoting awareness about responsible waste disposal and marine conservation. The campaign forms part of ibis India’s broader sustainability agenda aimed at encouraging environmental stewardship and community-driven conservation efforts.

The clean-up drive comes amid growing concerns over plastic pollution and coastal degradation across the country. With increasing pressure on marine ecosystems and urban waste management systems, particularly in popular tourism destinations, sustained public participation is seen as essential for preserving coastal habitats.

“India’s vast coastline is not only an important ecological asset but also supports millions of livelihoods, communities, and tourism destinations across the country. Through this beach clean-up drive, we have brought together employees, local partners, and community members to undertake meaningful action while fostering greater awareness around responsible waste management and marine conservation,” said Vineet Mishra, Vice President – Premium, Midscale & Economy Hotels, India & South Asia.

Alongside the clean-up activities, participating ibis hotels also organised volunteer engagement and community outreach programmes to encourage long-term involvement in maintaining cleaner waterfronts and promoting environmentally responsible tourism practices.

Through the initiative, ibis India seeks to strengthen community participation in environmental conservation while supporting cleaner and healthier coastal ecosystems across the country.
