NHAI Madurai celebrated International Day of Yoga

On the occasion of International Day of Yoga 2026, celebrated under the global theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing," the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Regional Office, Madurai, alongside all its Project Implementation Units (PIUs), organized rejuvenating yoga sessions.


Led by the Regional Officer, the initiative saw active participation from the Regional Office, PIUs, and Toll Plaza staff. Participants practiced specialized asanas, deep meditation, and breathing exercises designed to relieve stress and integrate holistic wellness into their daily routines. The event underscored NHAI’s commitment to fostering a positive, healthy work culture and supporting the vision of a resilient society by adopting yoga as a sustainable way of life.


Speaking at the event, The Regional Officer, NHAI, Madurai, emphasized the role of mindfulness in public service:


"Yoga is not just a personal wellness practice; it is a vital tool for professional excellence. I urge all our Officers in Regional office, PIUs, and Toll Plaza teams to embrace this practice to maintain patience and mental balance amid demanding schedules. Cultivating inner calmness and empathy through yoga is essential for us to better serve National Highways users with dedication and care. I strongly recommend all the officials to add yoga and breathing exercise into your daily routine"


The Project Director, PIU Madurai, commented on the region-wide celebration:


"On this International Day of Yoga, it is encouraging to see all our PIUs unite to prioritize health and mindfulness. By integrating these practices into our daily lives, our workforce is better equipped to handle operational challenges while sustaining long-term well-being and vitality."


By encouraging the incorporation of yoga into the daily routines of its workforce, NHAI aims to cultivate a highly motivated team capable of ensuring a smoother and safer journey for all National Highways commuters. The session concluded with a collective pledge by the staff to maintain a healthy work-life balance and practice mindfulness daily.
