Poet Kannadasan’s 100th Birth Anniversary Celebrated at Sirukoodalpatti

On the occasion of the 100th birth anniversary of renowned poet Kannadasan, floral tributes were paid to his statue at Sirukoodalpatti, his native village near Tiruppathur in Sivagangai district, by members of the Kannadasan Literary Forum.


The event was held under the leadership of S.M. Palaniyappan, President of the Kannadasan Literary Forum. As part of the celebrations, participants garlanded and paid homage to the poet's statue located in Sirukoodalpatti.


Earlier, special prayers were offered at the Malaiyarasiyamman Temple, the family deity temple of Kannadasan. A poetry tribute programme titled “Kannadasan’s Works that Have Stood the Test of Time” was also conducted.


Subsequently, pens and sweets were distributed to students of Kalimagal Vidyasalai Middle School.


Among those who participated in the event were Stalin, State General Secretary of the Lenin Communist Party; former Keelachivalpatti Panchayat President Azhagumanikandan; Oath Commissioner and advocate Murugesan; advocate Mohamed Shareef; Maruthupandian; Solaiyappan; Sivaprakasam; industrialist Parivel; and several others.
