Coimbatore Collector Receives 1,160 Petitions at Grievance Redressal Meeting

Coimbatore District Collector Pavan Kumar G. Giriyappanavar, IAS, received petitions from members of the public during the weekly Grievance Redressal Day meeting held at the District Collectorate today. After receiving the petitions, the Collector forwarded them to the respective department officials and instructed them to take prompt action and dispose of the grievances within the stipulated time.


The meeting was attended by Assistant Collector (Training) Tushar Singh, IAS; District Revenue Officer S. Madhuranthagi; South Revenue Divisional Officer Maruthi Priya; Personal Assistant (Social Security Scheme) Vaniletsumi Jegadammal; District Backward Classes Welfare Officer Lakshmi; District Supply Officer Sriram; TAHDCO General Manager Ranjith Kumar; District Social Welfare Officer Tharani; Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Officer Manimekalai; District Differently Abled Welfare Officer Vasanth Ramkumar; and other government officials.


During the meeting, members of the public submitted petitions relating to old-age pension, transfer of land ownership (patta), issuance of new family ration cards, house-site pattas and several other civic and welfare-related issues.


A total of 1,160 petitions were received by the District Collector, including 932 petitions seeking free housing and house-site pattas, 9 petitions requesting employment assistance, and 219 petitions concerning various other issues. The Collector directed the concerned departmental officials to examine the petitions and ensure that appropriate action is taken within the prescribed time frame.


On the occasion, the District Collector also distributed welfare assistance to beneficiaries. Under the Social Welfare Department, five beneficiaries were provided sewing machines worth ₹5,255 each, amounting to a total assistance of ₹26,275. Additionally, under the District Differently Abled Welfare Department, one beneficiary received a three-wheeled cycle worth ₹11,500 to support independent mobility.
