Dindigul District Collector Durga Moorthy, IAS, presided over a Public Grievance Redressal Camp held on yesterday at Aladipatti in Pannaikadu Town Panchayat under Kodaikanal Taluk. During the camp, she received petitions from members of the public and distributed welfare assistance worth Rs.7.46 lakh to 84 beneficiaries under various government schemes.
Addressing the gathering, the Collector said the Government of Tamil Nadu, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, is implementing several welfare initiatives and strengthening essential infrastructure to improve the quality of life of the people. She noted that the objective of the outreach camps is to take government services directly to villages, enabling officials from various departments to receive petitions on the spot and provide speedy solutions instead of requiring residents to visit the District Collectorate.
Highlighting the district's agricultural importance, she said Dindigul is predominantly dependent on farming and encouraged cultivators to adopt drip irrigation for crops such as vegetables, paddy, groundnut and pulses. She also urged parents to prioritize their children's education to secure a better future.
The Collector instructed officials to process all eligible petitions received during the camp without delay. She also encouraged residents to visit the departmental exhibition stalls, learn about government welfare schemes, submit applications with the required documents and make full use of the benefits available.
Under the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, 33 beneficiaries received free house-site patta orders, while six beneficiaries were issued community certificates. The Differently Abled Welfare Department distributed hearing aids, walking sticks and wheelchairs. Five beneficiaries received new family ration cards through the Food and Consumer Protection Department. Assistance was also extended under the National Horticulture Mission, livestock welfare schemes, maternity and Sanjeevi kits from the Health Department, and micro-enterprise loan sanction orders under the Vazhndhu Kattuvom programme.
Earlier, the Collector inspected exhibition stalls set up by departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural Engineering, Health and Integrated Child Development Services. She later visited JJ Nagar in Thandikudi Panchayat to inspect the availability of street lighting, drinking water, sanitation and road facilities. Senior district officials from various departments participated in the programme.
