Coimbatore Collector Inspects Development Projects in Sarkarsamakulam Block

Coimbatore District Collector Pavan Kumar G. Giriyappanavar, IAS, on yesterday inspected various ongoing development projects in Sarkarsamakulam Panchayat Union to review their progress and ensure timely implementation.


The inspection began at the Kovilpalayam Primary Health Centre, where the Collector reviewed the availability of medicines and essential drugs meant for patients. He instructed officials to maintain adequate stocks and ensure uninterrupted healthcare services.


He then visited an e-Sevai Centre functioning in Sarkarsamakulam Taluk and interacted with members of the public who had applied for certificates. The Collector enquired about the procedures followed for issuing certificates and assessed the efficiency of citizen services.


At the Government Higher Secondary School, Sarkarsamakulam, the Collector interacted with students and verified whether educational materials supplied by the School Education Department had been distributed to all eligible students.


Later, he inspected the Kovilpalayam Fair Price Shop, where he examined the stock and quality of essential commodities being supplied to ration card holders. Officials were instructed to ensure the uninterrupted distribution of quality food grains and other essential items.


The Collector also reviewed several infrastructure and rural development projects under implementation. At Kottaipalayam Panchayat Union Middle School in Kondaiampalayam Panchayat, he inspected the construction of a three-classroom building being built at a cost of Rs.65 lakh with financial assistance from NABARD.


He further inspected a nursery project in Athipalayam Panchayat, where 10,000 saplings are being raised at a cost of Rs.3.62 lakh, and another project at Breezy Garden Avenue for the production of 4,000 tree saplings at an estimated cost of Rs.2.89 lakh.


The Collector concluded his inspection at Selvapuram in Gudalur Municipality, where 54 houses are being constructed for tribal families at a cost of Rs.2.16 crore. He directed the concerned officials to complete the housing project quickly while maintaining high construction quality so that the houses could be handed over to the beneficiaries at the earliest.


Block Development Officers Ramamoorthy and Ganesh Moorthy, Assistant Executive Engineer Jesi Malathi, Sarkarsamakulam Town Panchayat Executive Officer Senthil, Gudalur Municipal Engineer Somasundaram, and other government officials accompanied the Collector during the inspection.
